RI gas prices increase for third week in a row (AP)

PROVIDENCE, R.I. ? Gas prices in Rhode Island have increased for the third week in a row, hitting an average of $3.48 a gallon for regular.

AAA Southern New England said Monday that this week's average price for regular is four cents higher than last week and 13 cents higher than at the start of the year. It's also 10 cents above the national average.

Rhode Islanders were paying $3.18 a gallon at this time last year.

AAA's latest survey in Rhode Island found that prices ranged from $3.43 a gallon to $3.57 a gallon for regular.

The average price for premium gas is $3.74 a gallon, and diesel costs an average of $3.96 a gallon.
